高校の交換留学でテキサス州ダラスにてホームステイをしたマスターには、日本の家族と、アメリカのホームステイ先の家族の二つの実家があります。
ホストファミリーだったカッティンゲイム家とはずっと交流が続いていて、数年に一度以上の行き来をしています。
お母さんのダナのお料理はどれも美味しく、大評判のピザを焼く次男のジョンには、「ピザとは何か」を習いました。長男キャリーは頼れるオブザーバーのような存在。わからないことを確認させてもらったりしています。日本通のキャリーとは、お好み焼きの材料について考察したり、コーヒーや食の情報交換をしたり。
そんな背景もあり、私たちの「おうちの味」はアメリカと日本の合わさったもの。そしてそれは、ビールやコーヒーの横にずっとあったもの。
HOP FROG CAFE の料理はそんな「日米家庭料理」です。

Master stayed with a host family in Dallas, Texas, during his high school exchange program. He has two families: his family in Japan and his host family in the United States.
He has maintained a close relationship with his host family.
Dana is his American mom, and all of her dishes are delicious, and we learned what pizza is from John, who bakes the highly acclaimed pizzas.
Kellie is like a reliable observer. He helps us confirm things we don’t understand. Kellie is an expert on Japan, so we discuss the ingredients in okonomiyaki and exchange information about coffee and food.
Because of this background, our “home cooking” is a combination of American and Japanese cuisine. And it has always been there, next to beer and coffee.
The food at HOP FROG CAFE is that kind of “Japanese and American home cooking.”
